Why would I want to be involved with RESNA?

RESNA members come together to:

  • Advance our knowledge of technology for people with disabilities
  • Build connections with others in the AT field
  • Impact the future of AT funding and legislation
  • Enhance and promote our profession

Membership offers the ability to network with others who understand the work you are doing, the challenges you are facing, and the excitement of creative problem solving.

A core value of RESNA members is our willingness to share knowledge, promote the work of others, and help mentor people who are newer to the field.

What is a SIG and how will it benefit me as a member?

RESNA membership includes full participation in its Special Interest Groups (SIG). Each SIG is organized along specific or closely-related interest areas and enables AT Professionals from diverse backgrounds to come together to network and share information. As RESNA's core organizational structure, the SIGs are also a vehicle for formulating and implementing policies, providing content for the annual conference, and promoting professional development. RESNA is working hard to provide on line tools to enhance the SIGs' communication and year-round activities.

What is a PSG and how will it benefit me as a member?

Professional Specialty Groups (PSGs) allow RESNA members to form connections with others based on their primary professional identities: therapists, engineers and  technologists, educators, suppliers and manufacturers. The PSGs also serve as an important peer support and networking resource for RESNA members whose high interest in assistive technology is not always well supported within their primary profession.

What is the RESNA listserve?

The RESNA listserve is a forum where you can share information and ask questions about assistive technology, receiving almost immediate responses from established professionals in the field. It is a great example of our spirit of mutual assistance and encouragement of others to “get things right” using the latest technologies and best practices. You do not have to be a member to join this list.
